HBF hosted the foundation’s first clay shoot – “Clays to Elevate Lives” sponsored by Builders FirstSource at Kiowa Creek Sporting Club on May 20th. The event hosted all levels of shooters, including novice and beginners as well as a few sharp-shooters. After a long year of social distancing and staying at home, the event was the perfect way to launch this new type of fundraiser.
Many HBF fundraisers are annual events which enjoy a dedicated following. It would be easy to stay on autopilot. But the staff continuously seeks opportunities that appeal to a broad audience. Clays to Elevate Lives is an idea that has been several years in the making. Standard operating procedure at HBF is the building of solid relationships with clients, sponsors and supporters. While working closely, the passions and interests of our collective village are discovered. Staff knew they had to find a way to organize a clay shoot, and 2021 provided an excellent opportunity to introduce “Clays to Elevate Lives”.
The schedule for the day included a scrumptious “Flipping Flapjacks” pancake breakfast, followed closely by training and a safety brief. Shooting took place from nine to noon, and the event concluded with an outdoor pavilion lunch. The entire day was flawless, thanks to event sponsors and the dedicated volunteers who enjoyed the day as much as the shooters.
Special thanks to ANB Bank, who donated $1,000 toward the first 32 clays shot. Colorado Concrete claimed the title for most clays hit. Jeff Pagano was the lucky winner of the raffle, valued at $900, which included a Trager Grill and YETI duffel with “refreshments”.
“We are proud to support “Clays to Elevate Lives” and HBF, as a way to give back to our community and connect with our industry. We are thrilled with how this event appeals to large segment of people who support the foundation and the critical funds it will raise to support the important work of HBF.”
- Brent Guetz, Area Manager of Presenting Sponsor, Builders FirstSource
Clays to Elevate Lives was a success in many ways. The chance to be outside with perfect weather and the opportunity to get together outdoors combined to create a sense of “normal”. The group was happy to come together, for the first time in a while, to support HBF. The day ended with Jim Iversen and Devin Bundy (HBF Board Members) thanking the crowd and reminded everyone why we were there, to raise funds and awareness of the Foundations mission. HBF is happy to acknowledge the event surpassed the goal to raise $50K!
All funds raised at Clays to Elevate Lives will help Home Builders Foundation meet their mission to build independence, provide opportunities and elevate lives for individuals and families with disabilities in our community.
